스펄전의 아침묵상 (7월 14일)
요절 : "네가 내게 돌로 단을 쌓거든 다듬은 돌로 쌓지 말라 네가 정으로 그것을 쪼면 부정하게 함이니라"(출20:25)
예수님이 십자가에서 운명(운명)하시는 순간 다 이루었다고 선언하신 것에 무엇을 더 보태려는 것은 본래의 신성모독 행위입니다. 두려워 떠는 죄인이여, 그대의 연장(도구)들을 치우고, 그대의 무릎을 꿇고 겸손한 간구를 드리십시오. 주 예수께서 그대의 속죄의 제단이 되신 것을 받아들이시고, 그 주님 안에서만 안식하십시오. 많은 신자들이 오늘 아침의 본문(출20:25)으로부터 그들이 믿는 신앙교리에 관하여(유익한)훈계를 받을 것입니다.
그리스도인들 중에는 계시의 진리(하나님의 말씀)를 세속적 규범이나 또는 다른 교리들과 타협시키려는 경향이 너무 많이 있습니다. 이것은 일종의 불경(不敬)과 불신앙(不信仰)입니다. 그것에 대하여 싸우십시오. 그리고 그대가 발견한 대로의 진리를 받으십시오. 하나님의 말씀의 교훈들은 다듬지 않은 돌들이고, 주님을 위한 제단을 세우기에 더욱 적합하다는 사실을 기뻐하십시오.
"If thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it" (Exodus 20: 25).
God's altar was to be built of unhewn stones, so that no trace of human skill or labor might be seen on it. Human wisdom delights to trim and arrange the doctrines of the cross into a system more artificial and more congenial with the depraved tastes of fallen nature. Instead of improving the gospel, carnal wisdom pollutes it until it becomes another gospel and not the truth of God at all. All alterations and amendments of the Lord's own Word are defilements. The proud heart of man is very anxious to have a hand in the justification of the soul before God. Preparations for Christ are dreamed of, humblings and repentings are trusted in, good works are cried up, and natural ability if much boasted. The Lord alone must be exalted in the work of atonement, and not a single mark of man's chisel or hammer will be endured. There is an inherent blasphemy in seeking to add to what Christ Jesus in His dying moments declared to be finished. Trembling sinner, put away your tools and fall on your knees in humble supplication. Accept the Lord Jesus to be the altar of your atonement, and rest in Him alone. Many believers may take warning from this morning's text as to the doctrines which they believe. There is far too much inclination among Christians to reconcile the truths of revelation. This is a form of irreverence and unbelief. Strive against it, and receive truth as you find it. Rejoice that the doctrines of the Word are unhewn stones and are all the more fit to build an altar for the Lord.
